KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR
ACCIDENT IN QUEEN STREET An elderly woman, Mrs. Annie Braithwaite, of Whitaker Place, off Symonds Street, suffered concussion as the result of being knocked down by a light delivery truck in Queen Street, near Wyndham Street, at about 1 p.m. yesterday. She was struck by the radiator of the car and fell heavily on the road. Mrs. Braithwaite was carried into the Herald office and was later taken by St. John ambulance to the Auckland Hospital. Her condition last evening was not serious. The curiosity of a large crowd, which gathered within a few minutes, hindered the task of the police and ambulance men very considerably. A way had to be cleared through the onlookers by the police before the ambulance men could carry out the injured woman. Traffic difficulties were also accentuated.
