ANTARCTIC PARTY

SECURING THE AEROPLANES ' HANGARS SUNK IN. SNOW (Received May 3. 5.5 p.m.) MONTREAL, May-2 The latest wireless report from the Byrd 3 expedition in Little America, Antarctica states: The men worked all day long under pale moonlight lowering the giant Condor aeroplane into a hangar sunk in the snow. A. 10-mile wind made the task difficult. Similar hangars are to be prepared for the sm&ller aeroplanes. The Condor weighs about eight tons, including two tons of fuel, and easing it into the pit was exhausting work. One man remarked that it was like trying to dry dock a whale. The barometer was falling yesterday and a blizzard was expected.
