BOXING
RAYNER DEFEATS HURNE [bv TKIjKGRAPH—I'RKSS association] BLENHEIM, Sunday Cyril Hurne, of Wellington, retired at the end of the eleventh round in a contest, here last evening with Clarric Rayner, of Blenheim, as the> result of an injury to his foot. The bout, began sensationally, Hurne being bowled over in the second when he either sprained his foot or broke a email bone. In spite of the disability he outboxed Rayner for the next four or five rounds, but from then to the end he was outfought and was down more than once. Rayner's feather-weight title was not involved.
