ARMED DESPERADOES
ESCAPE FROM A PRISON POLICE ARMOURY LOOTED (Received April 6, 6.15 p.m.) CALCUTTA. April 6 Eleven notorious brigands who were awaiting trial for a village hold-up in the State of Bhawalpur made a daring escape from the gaol at Bhawalnagar yesterday. At present they are terrorising the countryside. The brigands tricked a sentry into opening the cells, seized his rifle, shot and severely wounded him and then looted the police armoury. They stole 11 guns and hundreds of pounds of ammunition, and then fled into the jungle. , ——
