CATHOLIC WOMEN
The April At Homo of the Catholic League was held in the rooms in Customs Street on Thursday evening, when a large number of members was received by tho president, Airs. Pilling. A programme of vocal and instrumental items was given by Air. and Airs. Gordon Hillyer and Air. R. and Airs. Savers, the accompaniments being played by Aliss Winifred Cooke. Before the secretary's report ol monthly activities was given the members were asked to stand as a token of respect to the memory of the late Airs. J. Boylan, one of the foundation members, whoso death occurred recently. Welcomes were extended to now members and to Alesdamcs Alain and Garland, who lately returned from America. The visit of Airs. Jones, piesidont of tho Dargaville branch of the Catholic Women's League, was referred to and tho good work of tho branch eulogised. . The interest of members was asked in the present month's activities, which include the cako stall for three nights at tho fair for Mount St. Joseph, the "bring and buy" for league funds and the annual pantry appeal for the orphanages at Takapuna and Howick. Tho welfare report included details ot the distribution of 95 garments during the past month. The sewing circle and house committee also reported 011 their respective activities.
