Miss Thorold Clerk, Bassett Road, Remucra, is spending a holiday at Manly. Mrs. P. CJ. Harkness, Hamilton, and Mrs. G. Seal, Wanganui, arc at tlip Central Hotel. Miss Grace J. Allan. California, and Mrs. John Horton, Hamilton, arc at the Hotel Cargen. Mrs. H. ]ieid 801 l and her infant daughter are spending a holiday at Paihia, Bay of Islands. Miss L. Grey and IMiss Helen Graham, of To Kuiti, are visiting Auckland and arc at the Star Hotel. Mrs. C. 1?. Smith, Domain Drive, Parnell, returned this week after a holiday spent at Rotorua. Mrs. Barker, South Canterbury, a passenger by the Tamaroa this week from Wellington to England. Mrs. T. H. Overton and Miss Helen Overton, Great Barrier Island, are at Castlcbar Hotel for a few days. The postponed meeting of the Home Economies Association will take place 011 Wednesday evening, April 11. The annual At Homo of the Mount Eden College is to be hold at the Lyceum Club on Saturday, April 14.

Mrs. Wilfred Colbeck, Auckland, who has been visiting her son and daugh-ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Grey Colbeck, Christchureh, will arrive in Wellington to-day and will stay with her sister, Mrs.. Vivian Riddiford, Lower Hutt, before returning North.

Tho Birkenhead branch of the Women's Christian Tempernnco Union met this week. Mrs. Gatman presided. Mrs. Kasper, district president, gave a detailed report of the convention recently held in Wellington. This shower! the many objects the organisation stood for and the work accomplished, especially among young people.

Tho opening concert of the winter season at the Dock Street Mission, St. Matthew's Hall, was organised by Mr. A. Hnmblin on Thursday evening. The programme consisted of songs, ducts, instrumental items, fancy dancing and elocution. The special feature of the entertainment was the item provided by the nurses from the C'ostlcy Homo. Those taking part were: —Nurses Fryer Raishcr, Simpson, Wcstray, Clarke, Trimble, Stuart, Morrison, Cowan, Williams and Sly. The soloists were Nurses Parkinson and Trimble. An excellent programme was also given by "The Screnadors," Mrs. Ernest Asher, Misses Gladys Stormont, Norene Peck, Mavis Ward, Messrs. S. Stephenson and E. McKnight. The accompanists were Mrs. L. M. Grace and Nurse Simpson.
