MELBOURNE FOOT RACE WINNER'S BODYGUARD (Received April '2. 11.55 p.m.) MELBOURNE, April 2 The Str.well Gift foot race to-dav drew the largest crowd in the history of this rich event. The winner was T. L. Roberts, Mulwitfa, New South Wales, off 7} yards. H. Smith, of Kssendon, 10.V yards, was second, and W. Kemp, of North Fitzroy, 10J yards, was third. Won by a yard and a-lialf. Roberts, after winning his semi-final on Saturday, was provided with a police bodyguard owing to heavy wagering.
