GIRL HURT IN GAME

BASKETBALL MISHAP CONDITION REPORTED SERIOUS Through falling and striking her head while playing basketball at the Marist Brothers schools' picnic at Pukekohe yesterday, Miss Betty West, aged 19, suffered concussion. Miss West, who is a daughter of Mr. F. West, of 4 Roslyn Terrace, Stanley Bay, was a member of the Children of Mary basketball team, which was engaged in a match against an Ellerslie team. During the progress of play she was struck by the ball, which caused her to overbalance and strike her head on the ground. As no doctor was available at Pukekohe, the injured girl was taken by motor-car to Papakura, where she was attended by Dr. H. Burrell. She was afterward conveyed to tho Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance. Her condition last evening was re-* ported to be serious.
