RIOTS IN INDIA
HINDUS AND MOSLEMS BRITISH TROOPS INTERVENE CALCUTTA, March 30 British troops were called out to assist the police in quelling the riot in Ajodhya, the sacred city of the Hindus. The curfew order is now operating at Fyzabad and Ajodhya. Hindu religious ascetics were mainly responsible for the attacks on the. Moslems. Two of the hitter's priests were killed and mosques were wrecked. Order has been restored. There was also fierce rioting between Hindus and Moslems at Cannanore, South India, which resulted in the rleath of a Christian onlooker and injuries to several policemen, who were attempting to separate the combatants.
