IRAK ASSYRIANS

PROBLEM OF A REFUGE BRAZIL'S OFFER WITHDRAWN GENEVA, March 30 It is reported by the Secretariat of the League of Nations that Brazil has refused to find asylum for 20,000 Assyrians from Trak as she indicated in February that she would do. The reason given is that the influx of Assyrians might prove a serious embarrassment in the event of civil strife. Other South American are expected to follow this lead. Acting on the earlier intimation, a committee, set up by the League, arrived in the Londrina district of the Parana State, Southern Brazil, on February 19, and was welcomed by the local authorities. Its purpose was to report on the prospects of tho land offered by Brazil for the settlement of the Assyrians.
