POWER BOARD ELECTION
POLL ON APRIL 18 , The election of 12 members of the Auckland Electric-Power Board will be held on April 18, and nominations will close at noon next Wednesday. All the members of the present board will seek re-election, while the only other nominations received to date are those of Mr. I. Meltzer and Mr. W. H. Murray. The board is elected every four years. • Ratepayers in the board's district can vote, provided certain qualifications are fulfilled, and the franchise is restricted to ratepayers in their "own" right. A ratepayer may own several properties but he can record only one vote. No person whose rates have been in arrears for six months or more is entitled to vote. This stipulation has a bearing on the nomination of candi- 1 dates, who must be nominated by qualified voters.
