BLEACHING THE SKIN

UNUSUAL BEAUTY MASK From America conies this novel bleaching mask, which has worked wonders on the skins of women outdoor workers in that country. This is how thev carry it out: Cleanse the skin thoroughly, using warm water and a good pure white soap. Rinse carefully and dry. To two cupfuls of yellow corn meal add sufficient buttermilk to make a thin paste. In a piece of cheese cloth sufficiently large to cover the face cut holes for the eyes, nostrils and mouth. Apply a generous amount of mash to the gauze, spreading it evenly. Place over the top a second cloth similar to the first one to form the mask. Place this over the face, adjusting the holes so that you can see and breathe freely and then press it tightly against the skin.

Pour some additional buttermilk into a saucer or small bowl and keep tho mask wet for half an hour by frequent applications of buttermilk. After half an hour let it dry out naturally. This will take about an'hour and a-half. At the end of that time remove the mask, rinse the face with clear water, pat dry and then massage a light application of nourishing cream' into the skin, letting it remain on for the few minutes before removing. This is said to whiten tho skin considerably and at the same time to keep it soft and fine.
