NEW GOLF COURSE
HAMILTON PROPOSAL QUESTION OF SUNDAY PLAY [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Friday A proposal to form a golf links at the Claudelands Show Grounds was considered yesterday by the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association at its annual meeting. The sponsors" of the new club intimated that if they were to carry on successfully they would require permission to play on Sunday. Mr. W. Newell said it, was suggested that a nine-hole course should be established, and it. was anticipated, ,that there would be 80 week-day members. He had already pointed out to the peoplo concerned in the scheme that there was a ' church opposite the grounds, and Sunday play might be objected to for that reason. It was hoped that a start would be made next month in the formation of the links. Several other members offered various reasons for objecting to Sunday play. It was finally decided that the"'new club should be granted the use of the show grounds for a year, under certain conditions, at a rental of £SO for the' first year, and that * the matter should be referred to the incoming general committee with power to act. The question of Sunday play will be considered at a later date.
