CAPSIZE OF CANOE
HAMILTON BOY. DROWNED WAIKATO RIVER FATALITY _ [feom our own- correspondent] HAMILTON, Monday A fatal canoe accident occurred in the "YVaikatc llivttr at Hamilton at noon to-day, when a boy of '"l6, John Eric Sibley, whose mother, Mrs. Helen Sibley, a widow, conducts a confectionery business in Grey Street, Claudelands, was drownod. The boy and a companion, Edward Albert Bradding, a son of Mr. J. E. Bradding, of Claade Street; Claudelands, were paddling a canoe in the vicinity of Boundary Road, where t her intended to land. As they turned, the canoe swayed and capsized. Both boys were thrown into the water a few yards from the bank. Thev hung on to the canoe and Braddins did what he could to support his companion, who was unable to swim. Both boys tired and Sibley sank and was drowned.
A search for the body was conducted by the police throughout the afternoon, but was unsuccessful.
