PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

CHANGES IN THE NORTH BOUNDARIES INVESTIGATED [FROM OUR OWN* correspondent] WHANGAREI, Thursday An interim report on behalf of the commission set up by the Presbytery at a previous meeting to go fully into the question of boundaries was made by the Moderator, the Rev. J._D. McFarlane, at a meeting of the North Auckland Presbytery yesterday. .The investigation revealed tligi there were many parts of the north where no representative of the Church was administering to Presbyterian families. In other areas it was found that the boundaries between charges or mission stations were not defined, resulting in overlapping on the one hand and neglect on the other. Mr. McFarlane said the position in the north had materially changed during the past few years, and many places which a few years ago were very isolated had now good means of communication. Every Presbyterian resident in North Auckland should be able io call upon a Presbyterian minister or .01110 missionary to afdminister to him ."Should lie so desire. The present position in regard to boundaries was most unsatisfactory, and the commission was seeking information fiom all parts of the Presbytery's territory. When this was obtained it would prepare a full report.

The Rev. W. Elliott, of Whangarei. said one of the most serious features in connection with Church, life in the north was the number of gaps where no one was administering to the wants of the residents. Each session should so fully into the matter and send any information to the commission that would assist in bringing about a satisfactory definition of boundaries. MINISTER AjT TAKAPUNA M R. N. 0.
