(.'. Cooniho (Wellington) beat K. Dyer and 10. Pago (Wellington), 6—l, ■1 —6, (5 — Ladies' Doubles.—Misses L. and M. 'Wednesday The West Coast tennis championships commenced at Westport to-day in perfect weather conditions. The presence of competitors from Canterbury, including fcl. D.vmond, last year's champion, Motueka, Greyinouth and the Buller district added interest to the tournament. Sixty games were decided and some brilliant tennis was witnessed. The title-holders, Dvmond and M iss N. Costollo, of Greyinouth, won their games convincingly, but P. Warncs (Greyinouth) extended the former. The tournament will conclude on Friday. Paterson and Kear (Greymouth) and Fordo (Christehurch) played weli and should be semi-fmalists, while Miss Costello seems assured of retaining her title.
