INDIAN EARTHQUAKE
EPIDEMIC NOW FEARED DEAD BENEATH THE DEBRIS CALCUTTA, Jan. 23 The opinion is expressed by seismologists that Bihar is likely to become an active earthquake centre. This probably will seriously affect the future of the province. Thousands of inhabitants are evacuating the wrecked area. It is likely that the entire East Indian Railway depot at Jamalpur, one of the largest in India, which was extensively damaged, will be transferred to Luckuow, as tho cost of the work will be less than that of reconditioning the large workshops and rebuilding the wrecked quarters of the employees. The condition of some of the wrecked towns is such that rebuilding appears to be impossible. Tho threat of an epidemic is becoming grave. Tho hundreds of bodies under the debris are causing a fearful odour, and it will be weeks, probably months, before they can be removed.
