MEETING AT THE STADIUM CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIPS TWO TITLES TO H. R. DWIGHT Splendid racing was witnessed at the Western Springs Stadium last evening, when the annual championship meeting of the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club was held. The keen contests and stirring finishes found ready appreciation among a fairly large attendance of spectators. In uupport of the championship cycling events, cycling and athletic handicaps helped to complete a programme which was put through with speed and efficiency by the officials responsible. The three feature events on the programme were the one-kilometre unpaced championship, the sprint championship and the five-miles championship. L. H. Dwight secured the kilometre event, while his brother, H. R. Dwight, showing fine form, seuurixl the honours in the other two championship contests. ATTRACTIONS 'FOR SATURDAY

Given fine weather next Saturday ■ afternoon, the Western Springs Stadium will be clio ; scene .of ope .of the >biggest gala day attractions ever - arranged in Auckland. The gala will bo under the direction of the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club, and the Auckland Waterside Workers' Silver Band. A lengthy programme of amateur athletic, field, jumping and cycling events will be submitted, also six amateur wrestling contests, a tug-o'-war tourney, and gymnastic displays. Ten cycling events will be decided on the banked track, including four championships for men and two for girls. This portion of the afternoon's entertainment alone should provide enough to attract a large attendance, but in addition there will be splendid displays and an excellent programme by 12 bands. The Watersido Workers' Silver Band, which is entered for the Dominion bands contests to be held at Wellington in February, will render a special programme, and will be assisted by 11 other bands, including two pipe bands- and the Auckland Girls' Band. There will be an interesting juvenile quickstep competition, and a massed bauds parade, the whole concluding with a grand march, "Invercargill," by the massed ibands.
