NORTH SHORE CARNIVAL Attempts to lower New Zealand records will bo mado by N. Crump and Misses E. Rainey and S. Grange at tho North Shore Amateur Swimming Club's carnival in the Tepid Baths next Thursday evening. Crump will try to improve on his own 410 yds intermediate record, Miss Rainoy the 220 yds intermediate girls' record, and Miss Grange the 50yds ladies' record. The supporting programme includes championship contests and handicap events for all classes of swimmers.

TAURANGA CLUB'S AFFAIRS [by telegram:—own correspondent] TAURANGA, Wednesday At ft meeting of the committee of the Tauranga Swimming and Life-saving Club a letter wns rend from Mr. K. Tnylor resigning his positions as captain and bandicapper. The resignation was received with regret, and a voto of thanks was passed to Mr. Taylor for his great help to the club during the past two seasons. It was decided to support tho proposal of tho Rotoruii Swimming Club for the formation of a new sub-centre for the Bay of Plenty. 4 _ , The secretary reported that tho Borough Council had completed the installation of the new seats at tho Municipal Baths, And it was expected that tho _ available seating would now meet all carnival requirements. Messrs. T. R. Sneddon and B. Miluer were appointed hanclicappcrs, and Mr. R. do Lorie, club captain. . , It was decided to hold the next carnival on January 31. Messrs. Arthur Stewart and D. Mniinix were elected to the executivo committee.
