OBITUARY
MR. It. D. MacKENZIE [by telegraph—own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Wednesday The deatli occurred last night at Whangar<?i Hospital of Mr. Roderick Donald MacKenzio, aged 49 years, of Whangarei. The late Mr. MacKenzie, who was » partner in the firm of Kia Ora Motors, Limited, was born at Kauri, near Whangarei, and was a son of the late Mr. A. G. MacKenzie, one of the earliest settlers in the district. At the age of *l9 deceased went to Taranaki, where he and a brother engaged in bush contracting work, later doing similar work at Hikurangi and Portland. Some years ago he joined Kia Ora Motors in Whangarei, ayd during the past three years has also been- farming a property at Tikipunga. In his early manhood he was a prominent athlete. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Whangarei, 102. Mr. MacKenzie married Miss Mary E. Thornton, of Hawke's Bay, who survives him. /- MR. ROBERT SADGROVE [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHITIANGA, Wednesday The death occurred this morning of Mr. Robert Sadgrove, a resident of Kuaotunu, aged about 80 years. Ho was connected with the mining industry at Kuaotunu since it started over 50 years ago. Deceased was greatly respected in the Mercury Bay district. MR. A. M. AITKEN [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDISr, Wednesday The death occurred suddenly this morning of Mr. Alexander Maine Aitken, who had been in business for many years as a tailor. He collapsed on his premises and died almost immediately.
