SCHOOLBOY'S DEATH
COLLISION WITH CAR w NO BLAME ON DRIVER ~ A verdict that deceased had met !A» death "through an accidental collision between his bicycle and a motor-car "on December 18, no blame being attachable to the driver of the car was returned by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at an inquest yesterday into the death of a schoolboy, Albert Leonard Tucker, aged 14, whose home was at 1 "Walm* ley Road, St. Heliers Bay. The collision occurred at the corner of Main and Massey Roads, St. Heliers Bav, at about 8.50 a.m., only a few minutes after the lad had returned to his home with the news that he had passed his proficiency examination. He was riding on an errand for his mother when the accident occurred. , Henry Alexander Horr6cks, of Rarigito to View Road, St. Heliers Bay, tlio driver of the car, gave evidence that he was driving ■ his car along the main road at about 20 to 25 miles an hour toward the city. Approaching Massey Road, he had had to pull out to his right to pass a taxi r*hifh was parked at the side of the road near the corner, and just as ho was passing, he saw tho bicycle coming out of the side road. The boy was travelling fast and was apparently unable to turn quickly enough to avoid striking the car. "Witness had stopped within 15ft. of the point of the impact. A young girl who was a bystander said she thought the cyclist was on his wrong side of the road at the corner.
