AUCKLAND MILK BILL
EVIDENCE TO BE HEARD PASSAGE THIS YEAR UNLIKELY [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON, Thursday The draft of ths bill to sot up an ■Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council to control tho pupply and sale of milk in the city and suburban areas has been submitted to tho Government, but the course to be taken with it has not yet been decided, If it is considered to be a local bill, then it could be dealt with during this session only by a wliolesalo sweeping aside of the Standing Orders, such as those providing for repeated advertising of the measure and requiring that it must not be introduced later than 30 days after the commencement of the session.. It is even doubtful whether the Standing Orders could be set aside to tho extent necessary. .-*• • The other course —and tjie" more likely one—would be for the Government to .take up the bill and introduce It with a view to having it referred to tho Agricultural and Stopk Committee. Mr. W. «T. Jordan, M.P., has received a promise from the Prime Minister, Mr. Forbes, that tho bill will go before n committeo so that evidence for and against may be taken.
