DAIRY PRODUCE AND THE QUOTA

Sir, —I think our dairy leaders mado a great mistake in introducing Mr. T. Baxter. I think he should have been shown some of the poorer land to see how the struggling farmers have t,o eke out an existence (on to-day's prices}, instead of showing him tho best farms. After reading Mr. Baxter's interview as published in the Hekald of November 9, it seems to me quotas* must ultimately conn; unless some drastic change takes place in tho near future in the British labour market, I think our Government and farmers should see the writing on the wall. Mr. Baxter says the New Zealand, farmers gave him a good time, but came to meet him in American motor-cars. [ live among a progressive farming community, who have a lot to say of how; the British Government should be run and what it should do for the Dominions. These same people, to a largo extent, fill their requirements, for farm and pleasure, from the foreign market, evidently not thinking that the extra money spent on the reliable British article would be helping the British worker to buy New Zealand produce.
