FALSE PRETENCES
MAN SENT TO PRISON "I would have let this go had it been his first attempt, but accused has a list," said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court on Saturday, when George Sidney Farrow, aged i, carpenter (Mr. Brvce Mart), was charged with obtaining £3 from Frederick Freeman by false pretences. Frederick Freeman, photographer, said lie met accused, who said ho was the trainer of tho racehorse Sir Musk. He borrowed £3 from witness, allegedly as acceptance fees for the horse, saving he could not get his own money as the bank was closed. Later accused's wife called and asked witness if lie would withdraw the proceedings if the money was refunded.- She repaid witness L'l and said accused would not have obtained the £■'<> had ho not been tieslie rate. Accused was sentenced to one month's imprisonment.
