The Daily Telegraph says it learns authoritatively that the Cunard and White Star Lines have reached a basis of agreement for a fusion of their Atlantic interests. The companies' primary object in the merger is to secure financial assistanco from the Government to enable the unfinished Cunard liner to be completed.
