First large, ex storo 17/6 to 18/ 17/6 to IS/ *Nono offering. The weekly quotations are based on actual sales of wholesale quantities of of mutton or lamb or of quarters of beef delivered to Smithfield market and/or London stores. They are compiled by the Quotations Committee, Smithfield. To arrive at the equivalent ex ship values one farthing per pound should be deducted from the prices quoted above. Quotations given represent the average for the week, and are not selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk of shipments now on offer.

LAMB MARKET QUIET GOOD MUTTON DEMAND The Bank of New Zealand has received the following %dvice-from its London office as at the close of business last week: —Wethers: The market is quiet but firm. Ewes: The market is steady and no material change is expected yet. Lambs: The market is rather easier. Quotations: Wethers, light, 4d to 5d per lb; heavy, 3id to 3jd; ewes, 3d to 33d; lambs, twos, 73d to 7-Jd; eights, 7d to 7id; fours, 6|d to 6gd; seconds, 6£d to 7d. The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board reports on the market as follows: — Lambs: The market is quiet and prices inclined to ease for second quality. Home killed supplies are still plentiful. Small interest is being taken now in tho balance of New Zealand old season's lamb. First arrivals of New South Wales' new season's lamb, first quality, are selling:—Lambs, twos, <id; lambs, eights, 7d. Mutton: The market is firm with a good demand at better prices. Ewes steady with prices unchanged. Beef: Beer is meeting with a slightly better demand, but prices are weaker owing to lower prices of Argentine chilled beef. New Zealand Porkers: These are meeting with a good demand, prices being firm. New Zealand Baconers: The market is nominal. STOCK SALES WAIHOU QUOTATIONS

The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports that at the Waihou stock sale on Friday a small yardins of sheep maintained recent values. An extra heavy yarding of fat and Btore cows was penned, prices being on a par with those ruling at other sales. Yearling heifers were slightly easier, although there was a fair demand for medium sorts. A good yarding of fat pigs was penned, pricos being on a par with late Frankton rates. A heavy yarding of store and weaner pigs met with brisk bidding, the whole yarding changing hands at increased valuos. Prices wore:—Sheep: Prime fat four-tooth ewes, woolly, 19s 9d; other fat ewes, lGs 3d; fat hoggets, IGs 9d to 17s lOd; aged ewes and lambs, all counted, 9s 3d.
