AUSTRALIAN WOOL

GROWERS' GOOD SEASON

BIG INCREASE IN RECEIPTS SYDNEY. Nov. 4 The weekly wool letter in the Sydney Morning Herald states that from July 1 to October 31, 330,000 bales were sold on the Sydney market and realised £5,916,324, which exceeded tho amount for the equivalent poriod of last eeason by £2,042,106. The values at this week's Sydney auctions reflected an upward trend in prices. At Brisbane and other Australian selling centres Yorkshire and Japan were the most active operators. French and German competition also was stronger than usual. . The catalogues were the most attractive submitted since tho sales began two months ago, 'comprising free, fine, bright, soft-handling, high-yielding types. Of 50,604 bales offered 96 per cent was sold at auction. Tho advanced cost of raw material has influenced the prices for tops upward in Bradford, and the turnover has displayed an improvement, while trade in semi- manufactures has responded to tho increased prices much more readily this season than in ioriner years.
