WATER FROM CITY
BIRKENHEAD PREPARATIONS PIPELINE ROUTE SURVEYED Substantial local support in its action in arranging for a water supply from the city is being given to the Birkenhead Borough Council. This is shown br a petition to Parliament supporting empowering legislation for a contract fot 21 years without a poll. This petition already contains the signatures of 4-50 ratepayers, and it is anticipated tlio total will be increased to 600.
The Mayor, Mr. G. Mills, stated last evening that the survey of the route for the pipeline had been completed, and the scheme for Lringing the water for delivery at the Birkenhead reservoir presented no engineering difficulties. The Water Committee of the Birkenhead Council, through the chairman, Mr. J. Prickett, was placing every facility at the disposal of the city authorities to expedite delivery of the supply to Birkenhead householders.
