When a patient is being carried the stretcher is suspended from the roof above the starboard seats, thus rei ducing vibration to a minimum' and allowing a doctor, nurse or attendant to sit alongside the patient. The machine will' be easily ths fastest civil aircraft in New Zealand. Its too speed is 140 miles an hour J' and its cruising speed 125 miles anc" hour. NOTABLE AUCKLAND GIFT THE DEDICATION CEREMONY The new ambulance recently presented to the Auckland Centre of the St. John Ambulance Association by Mr. F. C. Mappin, of Mountain Road, Epsom, will be dedicated by Archbishop Averill, subprelate of the order, at Carlaw Park at three o'clock this afternoon. The ambulance, which is on the chassis of Sir. Mappin's Daimler motor-car, will be equipped with special wheels and largesection tyres, which have bec-n ordered from England. The whole machine i» Mr. Mappin's gift. After the ceremony about 250 members of the brigade, including ambulance. nursing and cadet divisions, who will be on parade, will be inspected by Lieutenant-Colonel G. Barclay, 0.8. E., chief commissioner of the brigade for New Zealand. He will be accompanied by Mr. C. J. Tunks, commissioner of the Auckland district. A march-past will follow. The parade will include units from Thames, Waihi, Tauranga, Frankton. Hamilton, Te Aroha and Huntly.

In the case of wet weather the cere, mony will be held in the Drill Hall Rutland Street. '
