Miss Nancye Hanna is visiting Wanganui, and is the guest of Mrs. H. D. Robertson.

Miss Freda Rathbone, who has been visiting Wanganui and Palmerston North, will return te Auckland today.

Mr. pnd Mrs. Wilfred Kalaugher, who have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Callaghan, Karori. since their arrival from England, have returned to Auckland. Mr. Kalaugher was a former New Zealand Rhodes Scholar.

Mrs. L. Jeffereys, Mrs. J. N. Ratcliffe, and small daughter, of RidingaRoad, Remuera, have returned from a visit to England and the Continent. Before coming to Auckland they spent a few days with Mrs. R. P. Foster, of Wellington.

At the monthly meeting of the Ponsonby branch of the League of Mothers Mrs. S. 0. English presided. Dr. Elaine Gurr gave an address on " Ante-natal work." Vocal and pianoforte solos were rendered by Mrs. Howard and Miss Jean Miliar^ respectively. Mrs. Lambert gave the thought for the month.

A "bring and buy" sale, realising nearly £B, was held on Thursday in the Takapuna parish hall under the auspices of the St. Peter's Women's Club. The guests were received on arrival by the Rev. R. H. Trill and Mrs. Trill. The ladies' committee comprised Mrs. J. W. Williamson, Jlrs. J. E. Close, Mrs. H. Matthewman, Mrs. Grimwade and Mrs. Spriggs. Afternoon tea was served by tho members of the Fleur do Lys Club. Items were given by Mrs. Bowman, Miss Wrigley, Miss Barbara Trill and Mr. Hubert Trill. Tho accompanists were Mr 9. Cammell and tho Rev. R. H. Trill.

The annual social of the Flexile Guild (staff of Dearsly's, Limited, boot manufacturers) was held this week in the Holy Sepulchre Hall. There were about 140 friends present, the evening being pleasantly spent in dancing and games. Musical items rendered by Miss Fletcher and Messrs. Meikleborough and McMurchy were greatly appreciated. At tho supper table the president, Mr. Herbert Dearsly, presented to Miss Wil- / Jtiiison on behalf of the guild a minia- / ture silver cup as a mark of the pleasure of the members that she has gained the distinction of winning the ladies' table tennis championship cup this Bfsason. Miss Wilkinson was accompaniste for the evening.

The Bayswater-Belmont Women's Society met at the clubhouse, Bayswater, Mrs. H. Bach presiding. Mrs. H. King and Mrs. McKinney, accompanist, gave a delightful selection of Maori songs and poi dances. Mrs. King prefaced the programme with an account of the origin and tradition of Maori songs and dances. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Rambaud, Whitehorn, Thomas and M. Connelly. The winner of the competition was Mrs. W. G. Thomas. Among those present were:—Mesdames H. Bach, L. L. Rabbidge, W. G. Thomas, R. T. Reid, B. Smith, B. Francis, Sellers, Braund, Waddell, R. Sims, H.
