There ■was a large attendance. The chairman, Mr. A. Leigh Hunt, suggested that, .in addition to interest!ing itself in the natural history of tb« Antarctic and aid in expeditions, th« society should endeavour to secure for the Dominion Scott's old ship the Dj* 4 covery, as an ocean survey ai;d training ship and relief vessel for any' expedition. He stated the Discovery was owned by the Falkland Islands Government, which now had no further u.se for her r and she was lying idle in London. It was also suggested that the society should advocate the establishment oJ meteorological stations in southern lands. Mr. Hunt stated that South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and South America might all contribute toward the cost of these stations, which would enable early ' forecasts of th< weather to be made.
