GERMAN ELECTION
NAZI CAMPAIGN ENERGETIC LEADERS TOUR IN AEROPLANE PUBLIC ENTHUSIASM ATTITUDE OF THE CHURCH By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received Novcmbe ".15 p.m.) Times Cable NDON, Nov. 2 The Berlin correspondent of the Times states that the Chancellor, Herr Hitler, and other leaders are energetically conducting the election campaign amid the greatest enthusiasm. The leaders are flying in a large Junkers aeroplane, which accommodates a special bodyguard of storm troopers, and are visiting many cities. Also they are motoring through beflagged streets lined by cheering people. The Chancellor often returns to his State duties in Berlin at night and starts electioneering again next day. Another message from the German capital states that the Vice-Chancellor, Herr von Pa pen, in an election manifesto, calls on German Roman Catholics to vote, for tho Nazis. He says: " Let nobody remain at homo on polling day (Sunday, November 12) owing to some petty grievance. All must contribute toward peace at homo and abroad, and toward Germany's further rise as a nation." This appeal contrasts sharply with an address delivered by Cardinal Bertram, Archbishop of Breslau, in which lie expressed concern for tho future of Roman Catholicism under tho Nazi regime. Tho cardinal condemned the present custom of devoting a whole Sunday to political and athletic manifestations.
