KILLED BY LIGHTNING
MAORI IN TAEANAKI WALKING ACROSS PADDOCK* SON ESCAPES UNHARMED fur TFXKcrurn— press association] NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday A Maori named Wanau was struck dead by lightning in a paddock at Omata, four miles from Xew Plymouth, this evening. He was a married man with several children. Deceased was walking across a paddock with his son who, although only about eight feet away from his father when the flash came, was unharmed. His father was killed instantly. A brief thunderstorm followed a sunny and exceedingly hot day. Rain clouds quickly gathered and heavy rain fell, accompanied by lightning. Within an hour the evening was again perfect.
