TROTTING NOTES

addington candidates PROSPECTS OF KEWPIE'S GUY TAXPAYER'S EXCELLENT FORM by abaydos Keu pie b Guy, the only direct Auckland repreHentnliv© at the New Zealand Metro'';in trotting Club's meeting. which opens •'t Aeldinglon next Tuesday, claims two enBaprements on tlio first day and id well 1» « , c((l in aldhurat Handicap, two miles. and the Hurley Handicap miles. On her Hamilton and Wellington displays Kewpie's Guy is making a return to form and as pho should derive eomo benefit from -ior run in the \pw Zealand Cup Trial last '"•ilurday, she should race prominently. Fit and well she is hard to bent over two miles. "Taxpayer, who, next to Indianapolis, was 'ho best three-year-old last season, has shown fine form in his races a.? a fourn eat-old and on his present work looks like continuing his successful run. At New Brighton in September he won the Burwood Handicap off 4.39 in 4.30, and followed with a meritorious win in the Mel liven *• up. recording -1.21) from. 4.117. Off the limit of the Empiro Handicap Taxpayer should take a lot of beating, and his prospects of adding to his winning list during the meeting aro very bright. The Auckland-owned but Canterburytrained pacer Blue Mountain has shown such splendid form this season that ho looks likely lo be well in tho picturo before the meeting closes. At Addington in August he started three limes for two wins. In the Belgium Handicap he ran 4.20 1-5 off 4.37 and handicapped on 4.34 in tho Heathcoto Handicap ho beat Indianapolis, who was on 4.32, and registered 4.26 1-5. Blue Mountain iH a great stayer, and a good deal of interest will be taken in his Addington efforts', as in some quarters he is already well fancied for the Auckland Trotting Cup. Gay Gordon's Improvement A horse who looks to have excellent prospects of winning a two miles race at the meeting is tho greatly improved Cay Cordon, who is oil the limit of tho Victoria Handicap. At the August meeting he create.! great surprise by beating a strong field in tho Trial Handicap, and in tho Heathcote Ilnndicnp ho was only a neck behind Indianapolis for second place and registered 4.26 4-5. Cay Cordon also started in the Methven Cup off 60yds and ran a great raco to finish third and clock 4.24 4-5. On these performances ho nliould soon bo returned. n winner. Tho improvement in stamina displayed by Holly Bank this season augers well for her early success in a two miles race. Since being imported to New Zealand by J. Young Holly Bank has won eomo useful races over short courses and this season opened her winning account in tho milo dash at New Brighton, paying a large dividend. Holly Bank then essayed to win the Methven Cup. Although she went under to Taxpayer, her showing was surprisingly good nnd ehe ran a. tick better than 4.30 ofr a 4.40 mark at New Brighton. A week later she finished third over a similar distance to Waress nnd Guy Denver. Nicely placed in tho Kiccarton Handicap she should take 6omu beating. For consistency the form this season of Sunny Morn would bo hard to beat. Sho finished third to Sir Guy and Red Shadow in the August Handicap at Addington, and on the second day O. E. Hooper drove her to victory in tho King George Handicap in 4.21 2-5. Sunny Morn was produced in the National Handicap and beat all except Mountain Dell, again showing good time. At New Brighton she tackled tho big sprint, winning nicely, and sho completed her fine record by scoring comfortably in the Oamaru Handicap on Labour Day. Sunny Morn is on tho limit o? tho Hagley Handicap and whatever heads her off should win. The trotting maro Heal Belle, whose progress from tho novice class has been most marked, will have her first raoo in select o.mpany on Tuesday, when she will step off the limit of tho Spring Handicap. Heal Belle showed ft return to form at the Hnwke's Bay Trotting Club's meeting at Wellington, winning tho Havclock Handicap very comfortably in 3.33. Sho will be benefited by tho raco nnd although opposed by a. largo number of high-grade trotters, should hold bright prospects of! tho front line. Good Form of Nicoya Probably tho most improved trotter in New Zealand this season is Nicoya, who last February gave Auckland trotting patrons a. taste of his capabilities by winning three races in three starts. His subsequent form was good and he added further successes to his list before tho season concluded. At Addington in August he started three times nnd after being unplaced on the first day won at his next two outings. In the Avon Handicap he ran 4.29 1-5 of! 4.30, and when ho won the Addington Handicap recorded 3.19 2-5 from a 3.24 maik. Nicoya is on 4.32 in tho Dominion Handicap and is likely to be ono of the main fancies. The ex-Melbourno trotter Huon Voyage, who holds a, two miles placed record of 422 2-5 will be accorded sound support m the Dominion Ilnndicnp. Ho ran two sterling races at Addington m August, being third to Nicoya. an el Writer in the Avon Handicap. recording 4.24 4-5. Conceding .Nicoya 21yds in the .Addington Handicap. Huon Voyage was just beaten by ft neck anel he ran tho mile nnd a-lialf in 3.18 3-5 On Tuesday ho is conceding Niceiya 12yds in two miles and tho race between these two trotters should bo well worth witnessing. A trotter capable of adding ft lot of interest lo tho Dominion Handicap is J- 0 "' 1 ' Lonzia, who is now an inmate of .M. Holmes' stable. As n two-year-ohl _ 1 oad Lorn;ia took ft mile record of - A, f three years ho proved one of the bes, of , - aC( . ~v cr Been in Hie Dominion and established 'ft record of 3.20 2-5. Last season he made, ft successful attempt to I<us o "' | hc "2 years old mile record of Revenue, -.11 4-n, reducing it to 2.11 1-5. After Olive Nelson at.
