EXCITING CHASE
<*— POLICEMAN 'AND MOTORIST SEQUEL TO A COLLISION Constable Duncan and tho driver of a small car had an exciting chase through the Sydney suburbs between liedfefn and Haberfield on a recent night in pursuit of a motor-car, which had been involved in a collision. Mr. I. H. 1?. Whittell parked his motorcar outside a house at Kedfern while he attended a meeting in a hall near by. A motor-car, travelling at a fair speed, struck the parked car and forced it about 18ft. on to the pavement. .It followed until threo wheels were on the footpath. Constable Duncan was standing near the scene of tho collision waiting for a tram to take him to lfedfern police station. He heard the crash and saw the motorist back his car and then drive away. The policeman commandeered a small car and set off hi pursuit. The contest was uneven, as the car which had been involved in the collision was a powerful type. The chase proceeded through tho traffic. The quarry was apparently lost several times, but it was always picked up again. The pursuing car was almost abreast o» the other car near Ashfield Park, but a motor-lorry backed between them, and the chase had to be resumed. Soon afterwards the leading jnotor-car was driven into a garage at Haberfield. As the motorist stepped to -the ground ho was confronted by the constable.
