SIGNING TRADE TREATY
AUSTRALIA AND DOMINION DELAY IN RATIFICATION [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] „ WELLINGTON, Thursday Owing to a hitch in the arrangements for the appending of signatures it is unlikely that the trade treaty recently concluded between Australia and New Zealand will bo ratified next Wednesday as originally arranged. The treaty was negotiated six months ago, but its details will not be revealed until the Parliaments of each country can arrange simultaneously to pass ratifying legislation. The New Zealand signatories to the treaty are the Minister of Customs, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, and the Minister of Lands, Hon. E. A. Ransom. They appended their signatures to-day to the document, which will be taken to Australia to-morrow by the Mariposa, sailing from Auck-v land, while a similar document signed by the Australian representatives wilTi be forwarded to New Zealand. Mr. Coates said this evening that he was not yet in a position to intimate the date when the contents of' the treaty would be disclosed.
