In view of this this medical officer of health for the Auckland district, Dr. J. Boyd, was invited to inspect the beach reserve and advise the council of the requirements of the department. Beyond intimating that ib was essential that the health of seasid® dwellers should be adequately protected, Dr. Boyd did not give any indication of the requirements of the department, but stated that ho would furnish the council with a report at an early date. TJpon the cost" of the scheme to 00 submitted will depend the decision of the council whether the water supply proposals will bo proceeded with, _as in the event of a substantial sum being required for drainage purposes thera will not be sufficient funds available.
