BUTTER, CHEESE AND MEAT MARKED INCREASE IN PIGS FARMERS' FREEZING COMPANY Further records, in the production of butter and cheese in tho Auckland Province are revealed in tho annual rer port of the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company, Limited, for the year ended Juno 30, In addition to tho dairy produce handled, the company also established records in its output of lambs and pigs and substantially increased its killings of cattle, which, after dwindling to small proportions, have shown steady increases, over the last fow years. The record in pig killings at 120,182 carcases represented an increase of just over 100 per cent on tho 1932 figure, while lambs were approximately 2 per cent higher on last year's record output. Cattle were killed in greater numbers than in any year since 1916, when 47,600 were handled. The increase on last year's number was approximately 78 per cent. Decreases were registered in the numbers of sheep and bobby calves. Favourable Season Particularly favourable climatic conditions, it is stated, largely influenced tho increase in output of butter arid cheese. Last year's records in butter and cheese sent to the works wero exceeded by 21 J- and 31.J per cent respectively, while on a butter-fat. basis production was approximately 22 pier cent greater. $ Tho not pjofit for the year, after allowing for depreciation, and providing for income tax, was £16,615, an increase of £IO4O on that of last year. Including £3588 brought forward, £20,203 is available. Another storey is now being added to the freezing block at Horotiu, arid the increased accommodation thus provided will obviato any likelihood of shortage of storage space during the coming season. In January last Mr. T. Simson retired from the position of general manager, which he had occupied for the previous 12 years, his total period of service with the company being "29 years. Mr. Simson was appointed to a seat on the board. Mr. A. JGr. Browpi previously assistant general manager and secretary, was appointed general manager, and Mr. N. A. Thomson secretary. ' * The three dairy company representatives on the board of directors, Messrs. F. H. Anderson, F. E. Cullen and R. ; H.. McKenzie, were returned unopposed. The other retiring directors at the annual meeting on September 22 are Messrs. J. \V. McAulay and J. Ij}, Makgill. Owing to recent alterations in the constitution of the board, the northern counties are now entitled to appoint only one director, in which caie Mr. McAulay will retire as a director appointed by the northern counties, leaving Mr. Jas. Ritchie as the representative of the counties. Mr. McAulay will seek re-election as a representative of shareholders residing elsewhere than in the northern counties, as also will Mr. Makgill.
