INTRUDER IN HOUSE
CAPTURED AFTER CHASE A SUSPECT REMANDED Found by a schoolgirl under a bed in a house at 10 Atarangi Road, Green Lane, a man was caught by the girl's brother after a sliprt pursuit, and was later given in charge to the Newmarknt. police. Mr. D. A. Dickson was talking with his father, Mr. T. Dickson, in the kitchen, when, at 5 p.m., his wife went to a front bedroom. She was accompanied by her sister-in-law, a girl of It years. The'girl was bending down to ]>h'k up some heads when sho saw a man beneath the bed. An alarm was instantly given, and Mr. Dickson, junr., ran imo the hall in time to see a man going out the front door. Mr. Dickson caught the man after following him for some 50 yards. When lie was brought back to the house, the intruder explained that lie wanted a meal. The premises were examined, and it was established that, nothing had been taken. Constable Marley, of the Newmarket police, arrived and took the man in charge. A bicycle* was found near the house. A cook, William Joseph Gee, aged 27, appeared before Mr. W. R. McKean, V S.M.,. in the Police Court yesterday, charged with breaking and entering the dwelling of Thomas Dickson, 10 Atarangi Road, by day, with intent to commit a crime, and with stealing a bicycle, valued at £2, the property of a person unknown. Accused was remanded for a week.
