LIGHT ON MOTOR-CYCLE

EVIDENCE AT INQUEST CRITICISM BY CORONER [nY TELF.cnAm —press association] CHRISTCHUnCH, Monday Criticism of the typo of light used on a motor-cyelo involved in a fatal collision was expressed by the coroner, Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., to-day, in his verdict at tho conclusion of an inquest into tho death of Harold Thomas Deans, aged 28, of Aranui. Deans died on July 13, eight hours after being injured in a collision between his motor-cycle and side-car and a motor-car, at tho intersection of Papanui Road and Bealev Avenue. The accident occurred at two o'clock in the morning.

Evidence was given that the motorcycle carried only a generator lamp similar to that used on bicycles, and that tho lamp did not show sufficient illumination as the morning was slightly foggy. The coroner held that no blame was attachable to the driver of the motorcar, Miss Nola Grace Edmonds, of St. Albans. Mr. G. Ollivier, formerly New Zealand champion tennis player, who accepted a lift on the motor-cycle, although he did not know the driver, was also injured in the collision.
