UNIVERSITY COUNCIL
FREE USE OF TEACHERS The decision of tho Director of Education that the services of certain members of the staff of the Auckland Training Collego would be available to the Auckland University College next year, in consequence of the partial closing of tho Training College, was reported to tho University Collego Council at its meeting yesterday. It was stated Mr. C. 11. Laws would give his full timn in geography and that Messrs. Shaw, Wallace and Becroft would be available for from five to six hours a week in English, modern languages and education respectively. Tt was decided to thank the department for making tho services of these teachers available at no charge to the council and tho professorial board was requested to work out tho details of their duties. Advice was received from the Auckland City Council that the council was agreeable to the chief city librarian, Mr. J. Barr, acting in an advisory capacity in the expenditure of the Carnegie Corporation library grant. The council decided to express its thanks to the City Council and to Mi'. Barr for their assistance.
