NAZIS IN AFRICA
UNPLEASANT INCIDENTS ALLEGIANCE TO GERMANY NATURALISED POLITICIANS * UNION FLAG HAULED DOWN By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (.Received August 4. 5.35 p.m.) CAPETOWN. Aug. 4 An impossible position has arisen in South-West Africa owing to German members of tho Assembly, who hold British naturalisation papers, contending that they still owe allegiance to Germany. The Union Government agreed to recognise German as tho official language in the mandated territory provided that a bill was passed by the South-West African Assembly, for which purpose tho life of the Assembly was extended one year. Naziism has asserted itself in the territory lately and has resulted in unpleasant incidents such as the hauling down of tho Union flag. Instructions for that act appear to have been received from overseas. A resolution prohibiting tho continuance of Nazi propaganda was carried by the Assembly on July 9.
