CENSOR'S DECISION

FAMOUS FILM BANNED LODGMENT OF APPEAL The New Zealand censor, Mr. W. Tanner, has refused to allow the public screening of " Turk-Sib,' the noted Russian film which was screened privately in Auckland a fortnight ago. It was this film which was described by the Sydney Morning Herald as "the quintessence of cinematographic art," and which received high praise from even the most conservative journals in England. By brilliant photography and symbolism, the film Captures the drama inherent in the building of the "Turkes-tan-Siberian railway, a work, carried out under the supervision of British and American engineers. The film contains no reference of any kind to the Soviet system, and the engineering feat is merely treated as an achievement of Man. It is understood that an appeal has been lodged by local exhibitors who are interested in the film.
