"MARIE ANTOINETTE"
NORMA SHEARER ROLE The Canadian-born screen actress, Norma Shearer, whose popularity is only eclipsed by that of Greta Garbo, is to play Mario Antoinette. An elaborate film story of the tragic queen 'of Louis XVI. of France, who was guillotined during the Paris Terror of 1793, is now being written for her by the Hungarian author, Ernest Vadja, and is to be directed by Sydney Franklin, who made "Smilin' Through," Norma's last and most acclaimed subject, a year ago. Since this picture and " Strange Interval," Norma has been away from Hollywood with her husband, Irving Thai berg, Metro-Goldwyn's supervisor of production. She has been tending him in his serious illness which has necessitated months of special treatment in Germany. ■i— —II ii II
