THE WRITERS' CLUB

At the Writers' Club yesterday afternoon tho entries for the literary competition on Modern Authors woro # read. The prize was won by Miss Eileen Johnson with a well-written and comprehensive review of the works of modern writers of prose, verso and drama. The judge, Mr. J. W. Shaw, paid a tribute to tho high literary quality of the articles submitted. Other members who contributed essays worn Mesdames Craig, Bertram, Court, Everton and Miss Audrey Argall. Mrs. Cluett, president of the club, congratulated Miss Johnson upon her excellent article and presented her, on behalf of the club, with a book of plays by New Zealand writers.
