SNOOKER
AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP A large crowd was again present at Phillips' billiards parlours last night, when two contests were witnessed in the Auckland open snooker championship. Tho first match Was between -R. Fredatovitch and E. Burleigh. Fredatovitch had the run of the piny and managed .to keep that advantage, winning two straight games from his opponent. Tho scores were 53 points to 32 and 69 points to 29. The second match was between D. Knott and A: Phillips. ■ Knott played very sound snooker throughout. Knott had a comfortable win in two straight games, the scores being CI points t0.23 and 61 point? to 3G. Only six players remain in the championship. which. Will be played up to th.e Anal next week. J. Dryland will meet A. Chappoll next Monday. OPEN TOURNAMENT The championship snooker tourney at the Central Club Saloon. High Street was advanced a further staee Inst night when W. Edwards defeated C. Bloomfield by two games to one. In the first game" Edwardi scored a runaway win. defeating his opponent by 76 points to 21. Bloomfield turned the tables in tho next game and won by 62 points to 29. The final game was a very exciting one. Bloomfield wanted a snooker on the blue, which ho obtained with a good shot, and after Edwards failed to hi. it, Bloomfield potted, the_blue and pink and made it black to win.
