HOCKEY
CHALLENGE SHIELD MATCH AUCKLAND AND POVERTY BAY; Fast and thrilling hockey is anticipated at Remuera to-morrow, when Auckland will endeavour to stave off a challenge from Poverty Bay for the New Zealand Challenge Shield, which the former has held since the end of the 1931 season. The visitors are reported to be a very strong combination and expect to give Auckland its hardest fight since the shield came into its possession. Last year Poverty Bay wa3 defeated by 4 goals to 1, but it is stated that Poverty Bay is much stronger this year, particularly in the forward line, which was the team's main weakness last year. Auckland is aluo fielding a strong team, eo that to-morrow's dontest should result in a willing and scientific tussle. The teams are as follows: Auckland.—H. Vaile, H. Williams, T. (r. Parker, N. Tho men's senior eleven played Hamilton at Hamilton, winning by two goals to one, after having the best of the game most of tho time. At Taumarunui tho Waipa B representatives drew with Taumarunui, each with two goals. The scorers for Waipa were B. Gibson and E. Penny. The Waipa ladiiss| team was also matched with Toumaruu.ui and was defeated by five goals to nil. ,
