WORK IN THE COUNTRY
..Sir, —May I please ask for space to air a grievance? Finding myself in need of a girl, to mind baby and give an occasional hand in the house, 1 advertised in three newspapers. I received the huge total of five answers to the three calls for help. I have answered numerous advertisements and each time I got the same results. When the girls find that we are 15 miles from our town, I am told that it is too far out. I have been turned down by at least ten girls in succession. One hears dreadful tales of girls walking the streets who would take any position as long as it was-work, but now, after my experiences, 1 am beginning to think there aro no girls looking for work. If people cannot leave town to work in the country (as it is too far) why does not the farmer say he cannot send milk and cream.to the towns (as it is too far)? Disgusted.
