FAIR TO FINE WEATHER #ijii > INDICATIONS OF CHANGE The Government meteorologist re.' ported last evening as follows: slight anti-cyclone is passing New Zea« land to the northward and a deep ( ] c . pression is advancing from the west across the Tasmnn Sea. Indications' are for south-westerly winds at first fron* Auckland northwards; otherwise north,westerlies prevailing, moderate at first, bn't freshening and later reaching gale force in places. Seas rough on the west const; smooth to moderate on the casijl smooth at first in Cook Strait, bufc later rising. Eastern Tasman Sea: Mod-' era to to strong north-west to northerly wiiVls, rising to gale force in the south, crn portion; seas rough. Weather fair to fine at first, hut becoming unsettled gradually in districts with a westerly aspect and rain developing. Cool nighfc but milder to-morrow. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —There was a continuation' of south-westerly weather yesterday, the' conditions being squally and showery during the morning, but the afternoon and evening were fine. The barometer was above normal last night,having risen .20in. during the 24 hours. Barometer, midnight, rising . . 30.10 in, Midnight, Tuesday- . . . . 29.9Q1n, Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 57dsg.; minimum, 47deg. Wellington.—A perfect spring day was enjoyed yesterday, the sun shining from a cloudless sky. There was a light northerly breeze. Christchurch. —The weather was calm and pleasant with a fair ajnount of sunshine yesterday. The maSimum temperature was 48 degrees. The barometer, after falling slightly, registercel 29.73 in. last evening. - Dunedin. —Fine sunny weather was experienced yesterday following a cold night and five degrees of frost. A light north-east wind was blowing and conditions were very cold in the shade all dav. The barometer fell several points and registered 29.80 in last evening,.
