WEEKLY WESTFIELD SALE HIGHER VALUES REALISED MOST YARDINGS SMALLER The principal classes of fat stock sold at higher prices at tho weekly Westfield sale yesterday. Tho yardings generally were shorter and competition was keen. Tho entry of beef was smaller than usual, numbering about 650 head. It included a fair proportion of good quality stock. Tho salo opened rather quietly but interest developed quickly and values were very firm at tho close. Extra choice ox sold up to 21s per 1001b., and choice cow and heifer up to 20s, representing a rise of about Is per 1001b. Top price of £9 15s for steers compared with £9 realised last week. Ihere was a brisk sale for sheep, which were yarded in shorter numbers. Both wethers and owes attracted substantially higher offers and thero was an average advance in values of up to 5s a head. Prime wethers mado up to 27s and primo ewes to 26s 3d. Lambs also wero yarded in smaller numbers. Values wero firm at late rates, in some cases showing an advance. Exporters took, several hundred head. The calves yarded were insufficient for requirements. Bidding was particularly spirited and good quality sorts rose sharply in valuo. An average yarding of pigs sold at generally unchanged rates. If anything, porkers wero a shado firmer. There was a largo offering of stores, which had ready sale. Comparison o! Top prico for ox beef was realised by a lino of choice steers from Mr. j. Haunon, Hautapu, which made up to £9 15s. A consignment frcm Mr. W. Tolhopf, Ahuroa, sold up to £9 10s, and steers from Mr. R. J. 8011, Tangowahine, and Taylor Brothers, Taupiri, realised up to £9. A lot from Ohinewai was priced up to £8 J7s Gd, and ex. Frankton up to £8 12s 6d. Steers from Mr. J. It. Hill, Oliinewai, made up to £7 7s 6d, and from Mrs. M. Storey, Ohinewai, up to £7. In the cow and heifer market, heifers from Mr. W. Dickey, Walton, realised up to £6. A truck of cows from Mr. W. 13. Reed, Waerenga, sold to £5 15s, and heifers from Cameron Brothers, Kiwitalii, wore priced up to £5 10s. Cows and heifers from Mr. G. Donaldson, Okaihau, and from Hargraves Brothers, Kaiwaka, mado up to £5 7s 6d. A lino from Thompson and Ernest, Wliakatane, made -up to £5 2,s (id, and from W. Johnstone, Te Kuiti, up to £-1 15s. Mr. F. C. Hansen, Matangi, sent forward a lino which sold to £4 12s Gd.

Choppers sold from £1 to £1 18s; heavy and medium baconers, £2 4s to £2 10a; light baconers and heavy porkers, £1 12a to £2 2s; medium porkers and light porkers, £1 5s to £'l 10s; small and unfinished porkers, £1 to £1 3a. There was a large yarding of storo pigs, which sold at late quotations. Large stores, 18s to £1 2s; slips, 10a to 17s; weaners, 7s to 13s. Calves A small yarding of calves met with a keen demand. Values showed a sharp rise on lato quotations.
